The College is seeking an exceptional Educational Leader of faith and learning.

The Deputy Principal Secondary contributes actively as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to key strategic, policy and management decisions relating to the learning and wellbeing of all students. It seeks to embed a culture and practice of inclusion, high expectations for student achievement and learning gains. This role provides significant pastoral and academic leadership within the College. The position is responsible for the effective operation of Years 7-12 and for the overall wellbeing, learning and faith development of the students in the cohort. Central to the role of Deputy Principal Secondary is knowing the students and their families, monitoring, challenging and advising students, informed by the College Vision for Learning, College Ministry Plan, Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the National School Improvement Tool. Growth and Development plans would be targeted at developing this effectiveness.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise Religious Leadership in developing the Catholic Identity in the life and Mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Demonstrated capacity to cater for the educational needs of both girls and boys.
  • Demonstrated leadership in Secondary Learning, Wellbeing and/or Middle Leader role in at least two schools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead contemporary learning and teaching in a safe and growth-promoting environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate, and develop in others, effective interpersonal skills.
  • Coaching and/or mentoring experience.
  • A capacity to contribute actively to change for the future, work strategically, influence policy and identify contemporary approaches to wellbeing.
  • An astute understanding of change processes and stewardship of College resources.
  • An ability to contribute to the development and maintenance of a College culture characterised by the safety of all, collaboration, consultation and engagement within and external to the College Community.
  • Proven ability in managing a diverse range of stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a collaborative effort among staff and a willingness to work with all staff to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Proven abilities in delegation, motivation, consultation, staff development and other personal/professional qualities and skills required for effective leadership in a Catholic community.
  • Proven capacity to exercise organisational leadership to support the effective and efficient administration of teaching and learning at the College.
