Opinion - Putting priests back into politics

Politics is a vital part of human society and the Church must accept that fact and participate fully in the political process, even to the extent of allowing once again clergy and religious to seek and hold public office.

If the Church hopes to inspire the development of future men and women "for all seasons," both religious and lay, such as St. Thomas More, it must recognise that it is in the world and part of it. And to most effectively and positively shape the politics of the world in which it exists, the church must be open to direct political involvement and debate. - John Donnangelo, National Catholic Reporter (click below for full article)
