The Sisters of St Joseph will welcome their youngest member in 20 years when 24 year old Anne-Marie Gallagher takes her first profession of vows this Sunday at the Mary MacKillop chapel in North Sydney.
In a media statement issued by the order, spokesperson Sr Monica Cavanagh, says it is inspiring to see such a young person in the community seeking a spiritual life within the Catholic Church.
Anne Marie says she is excited by the opportunity to formalise her relationship with God and with such a wonderful order as The Sisters of Saint Joseph. She first made the decision to swap her modern lifestyle after a "stirring" within her which led her to scour the internet where she ultimately found the sisters.
"I have always felt there was something more to life, and it was through finding Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of Saint Joseph, that everything seemed to make sense for me," she says.
"I would encourage young people to examine the rewards a life in the Church can bring. I have never felt as fulfilled as I am right now. I get a chance to do something I love each and every day. It is an exciting time and I'm really looking forward to the ceremony with great anticipation and taking that next journey on my spiritual path."
