In 1986, Pope John Paul II became the first Pope to visit a synagogue since the time of St Peter. Pope Francis has now been asked to visit that same synagogue of Rome. Rome Reports takes us inside this historic temple.
Following in the footsteps of his predecessors John Paul II and Benedict XVI, Pope Francis has now received a formal invitation on behalf of the Jewish community of Rome to visit their grand synagogue, which was constructed in 1904, and survived the turmoil of the Fascist period.
