The new hospital in the Adelaide CBD is Calvary’s biggest investment in Australia and is the largest private hospital in South Australia.

Calvary SA Regional chief executive Sharon Kendall said the hospital will continue Calvary’s service to South Australians with the highest quality, compassionate health care. It joins Calvary’s other South Australian hospitals, Calvary North Adelaide and Calvary Central Districts.

“Calvary South Australia has been caring for South Australians since 1900. This state-of-the-art hospital is unlike any other hospital facility in the state and we’re extremely proud to welcome the new site into our trusted Calvary network,” Ms Kendall said.

“It’s almost double the size of the 115-year-old Calvary Wakefield Hospital and will, in a few days, also welcome the entire team from the Calvary Rehabilitation Hospital in Walkerville.”

Offering the only 24/7 private emergency department in South Australia, the new hospital boasts the latest equipment, modern facilities and capabilities to adapt to future advances in technology.

The hospital has 344 beds, 66 day-patient beds, 16 operating theatres including five day surgery theatres and an additional hybrid theatre, two angiography laboratories, four procedural suites as well as radiology, pathology, an onsite pharmacy and coffee shop.

“The new hospital marks an exciting new era for Calvary in South Australia. We look forward to welcoming more than 700 current hospital staff to the new site,” Ms Kendall said.

Calvary Wakefield Hospital will be repurposed by the owner of the site, while the Calvary Rehabilitation site has been purchased by an established independent aged care provider.
