We need to believe that the Trinity is saving the world despite appearances. Our role is to play our part along with every man and woman of good will. Taking too much responsibility is unconvincing and reveals a lack of faith. If anything, we should give witness to the world’s need to live without messiahs.
Another major insight of Vatican II’s document Church in the Modern World was that we are "fellow travellers" with all people of good will. We are involved in the world, not running on a parallel path. We share their hopes, joys and struggles. We are a Church that is "still on the way", searching with others for solutions to the world’s problems. - Fr Noel Connolly, The Far East (click below for full article)
